Vancouver's Downtown Community Court

Downtown Community Court Advisory Council

Since its inception, the community court has worked with residents, businesses, service providers and organizations in the court's catchment area to understand how crime affects the community and what services would be useful to compensate the community for the crimes committed.

The Downtown Community Court continues to engage the community and is setting up an Advisory Council to assist it in achieving its vision.  The application period is now closed.  The new Advisory Council will be announced in early 2010.

Working within the policy and budgetary priorities of the Criminal Justice Reform Secretariat, the Council will represent the interests and ideas of the community to the court, propose innovative solutions to problems, provide feedback on matters put to the Council by the community court, and undertake other related responsibilities.

For additional information about the Downtown Community Court Advisory Council, please contact Sharon Belli, Manager of Community Engagement at the Downtown Community Court.  For information about how Council members are selected, please visit the Board Resourcing and Development Office website.
